DescriptionWhat You Will Do
- Provide effective spiritual support that contributes to the wellbeing of each patient, family member, visitor, volunteer, or employee
- Acts as an integral part of the health care team, including interacting with nursing, medical, and support staff to ensure that the appropriate levels of service are met/delivered in a timely manner.
- Provide spiritual care that respects diversity, relative to differences in race, culture, gender, sexual orientation, philosophies, religious perspectives etc.
- Advocate for patients by educating staff about specific religious, spiritual or cultural needs and issues of patients and families which affect their care and treatment.
- Appropriate use of one’s professional authority as a chaplain.
- Establish trusted spiritual care relationships with empathy, openness, and respect
- Assists with the planning/implementation of services that provide spiritual support to the organization and community.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
