A Brief Overview
Performs specimen procurement and / or processing of laboratory specimens. Provides laboratory support functions.
What You Will Do
- Organizes and performs tasks efficiently to meet departmental turnaround time standards.
- Performs computer data entry, laboratory processes including sterile technique, aliquoting and / or phlebotomy
- Processes specimens for laboratory testing.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
- High School Equivalent / GED (Required) and
- Other Accredited Program : Formal Training from an accredited phlebotomy school or medical assistant program (preferred)
- less than 1 year Entry level (step increase upon successful completion of competencies after training is complete - 6 months minimum) (Required)
- Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients, customers, co-workers.
- Takes responsibility for self-development
- Working knowledge of preanalytic laboratory and safety policies and procedures.
- Display initiative to perform job duties
- Ability to work in fast paced environment

- Competent on venipuncture for all ages.
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Phlebotomy Certification (Preferred Upon Hire)
