Description
A Brief Overview
The Oncology Data Specialist I is responsible for abstracting and timely submission of cancer tumor registry data for multiple UH hospitals.
What You Will Do
- Conducts accurate and complete cancer case ascertainment according to the requirements of the American College of Surgeons and the State of Ohio.
- Codes, classifies and indexes stage of disease and treatment information.
- Performs data quality checks to ensure data quality and completeness of records.
- Understanding of CoC standards, particularly data quality standards.
- Maintains a maximum abstracting delay of 6 months from the date of diagnosis.
- Maintains case follow up rate as required per CoC standards 5.3 & 5.4
- Participates in special projects, as needed.
- Meets minimum department productivity and accuracy standards.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
