Description
The Cath Lab Tech is responsible to the Department Assistant Nurse Manager/Director and its clients for performing a variety of duties in cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology to assist the cardiologist and electrophysiologist and the quality of radiological work in the EP or cardiac catheterization laboratory.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients' status and identify each patient's requirements relative to their age specific needs.
- Prep patient and attach leads, defibrillator pads, BP cuff, and set up the sterile field.
- Maintain sterile procedure and be responsible for availability of supplies and equipment.
- Responsible for all duties related to Radiation Safety and Protection.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
Qualifications
Education
- Radiologic Technology Program or Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Program (Required).
Work Experience
- Experience with pacemaker insertions (Preferred), scrubbing in (Preferred), special procedures (Preferred), interventional radiology or cardiac catheterization lab or electrophysiology lab experience (Preferred), and Advance EKG recognition course experience within 1st year of hire (Required).
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Proficiency in arrhythmia recognition (Preferred proficiency).
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills (Required proficiency).
- Team player (Required proficiency).
- Basic computer skills and experience with Hemodynamic Monitoring (Required proficiency).
- Use of various equipment, including power injectors and computers (Required proficiency).
- Knowledge of radiation safety QA (Required proficiency).
- Knowledge of proper sterile procedure technique and infection control (Required proficiency).
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T) (Required) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) (Required), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year (Required), CCI equivalent (Required), Licensed in the State of Ohio (Required), and Certification of completion in a cardiovascular review course (Preferred).
