Lead Instructor
University Instructors (UI) is seeking dynamic face-to-face elementary and secondary lead instructors supporting students in grades K-12. In this role, you’ll work in schools to directly help students overcome learning challenges in reading/literacy, math, science, and history.

Roles and Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Have familiarity with a variety of learning platforms and course content, structure, and style within multiple subject areas (reading/literacy, foreign language, math, science and history).
- Daily Lesson planning and setting instructional goals for students.
- Daily and weekly planning with grade level team at assigned school.
- PLC meetings and all staff Professional Development.
- Grading and assignment of student work under direct supervision.
- Bridge communications between students and teachers regarding specific course content.
- Communicate with UI program management on specific questions regarding relevant course content.
- Review of pacing guide with planning group and supervisor to ensure alignment.
- Individual student instruction will only happen during core instruction times/schedules.
- All school-based protocols and polices around safety, employee handbook and client expectations will be signed off on by our candidates to be understood after review and will be the responsibility of school leadership to ensure.
- Instructors will not be responsible for additional tasks including bus duties, lunch duties or any assigned tasks outside of instruction as stated in contract unless it is agreed that these are required by school leadership as instructional needs.
Knowledge and Skills
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Experience providing classroom instruction in the content and grade level assigned.
- Maintain an understanding of instructional pedagogies and methodologies.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Sound attention to detail.
- Strong ability to work both independently with little supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
Education and Work Experience
As a successful applicant, you must have a passion for helping students succeed. Additionally, you will need to have the following:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree.
- Two to five years experience providing instruction in assigned subject area.
- Must be VA provisionally eligible, “meeting provisional requirements” in the state of VA. This means they will have a bachelor’s degree in the content or aligned to content as defined by VA DOE.
