Job Summary
This position is for currently enrolled nursing students in their final semester. The goal of the Nurse Technician Program is to engage the Nurse Technician (NT) in evidence based nursing practice that enhances patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). These skills, along with their nursing school curriculum, will serve as a pathway to develop the future RN. The Nurse Technician Program serves as a pathway to the entry to practice Nurse Residency Program. Supports the organization vision and mission. Utilizes knowledge of patient’s age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care.

5. Ability to utilize computers for documentation purposes.
6. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
7. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
8. Technically competent in tasks within the scope of practice of a Nurse Technician.
Work Experience
Direct patient care experience in hospital setting preferred.
License/Registration/Certification
Current CPR training program.
Education and Training
1. High school graduate or equivalent required.
2. Must currently be enrolled in a nursing program and meets one of the following criteria:
a. Completion of the 3rd semester of a 2-year nursing program, or
b. Completion of the 7th semester of a 4-year nursing program.
NOTE: The NCLEX-RN exam must be passed within 3-months after graduation. Failure to pass the NCLEX-RN exam within the specified timeframe will result in the Nurse Technician’s inability to continue in the Nurse Technician Program.
Failure to receive an offer in assigned/primary unit will require the Nurse Technician to seek other employment opportunities within the Hospital District within 30 days.
Promotion to the Nurse Residency Program is based on competency, performance and evaluation in the Nurse Technician Program. Nurse Technician must receive an offer of employment prior to transitioning to the Nurse Residency Program.
