Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst
University Medical Partners (UMP) formed in January 2017 by physicians currently practicing within several separate medical groups in the Bay Area to create a unified multi-specialty physician practice and clinical network that will serve as an exemplar for the delivery of high-quality health services in the Bay Area.
UMP Practitioners deliver care at clinics operated by Stanford Medicine Partners (SMP), a medical foundation affiliated with Stanford University throughout the Bay Area.
POSITION TITLE: BI Analyst
REPORTS TO: Manager, Analytics and Data Infrastructure
PURPOSE STATEMENT: As a member of the UMP Management Services Team, the BI Analyst play a critical role in supporting data-driven decision-making within our medical group. This position will focus on analyzing healthcare data, developing reporting mechanisms, and providing actionable insights to improve patient outcomes, enhance operational efficiency, and support business growth. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a passion for leveraging data in a healthcare setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential duties of this position include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Design and develop intuitive dashboards and visualizations to effectively communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders (clinicians).
- Prepare, analyze, and model data sets to inform key business decisions.
- Maintain and update data tables within the data warehouse (Snowflake).
- Provide insights and analyses to drive improvement initiatives that enhance the long-term operational excellence of UMP.
- Support special projects and analytical needs as assigned by the Manager of Analytics and Data Infrastructure.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of processes, projects, and workflows.
- Identify opportunities for new data collection and enhancement of analysis processes.
- Generate monthly and quarterly reports on productivity, quality, and performance metrics from multiple systems.
- Assist in creation and validation of year-end productivity budget analysis.
- Track and manage performance metrics across key areas, including service, productivity, visits, and quality.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience and qualifications:
- BS/BA degree in Data Science, Analytics, Business, Health Care Administration, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a data analyst or in a related field
- Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), SQL, and Tableau. Familiarity with Python is advantageous, though not mandatory.
- Ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide solution and recommendations.
- Ability to translate data into non-technical, lay terms.
- Experience in methodologies and processes for managing databases.
- Adept at queries, writing reports, and making presentations
- Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills to manage multiple priorities and meet required deadlines.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills to ensure process improvement and projects are completed successfully.
- Strong interpersonal skills necessary in order develop and maintain collaborative relationships with staff and physicians.
- Proven ability to work independently to produce accurate work of the highest quality.
