Position Summary:
- Writes content, such as news articles, talking points, email, and social media for ODI
- Edits and manages website content and design
- Designs graphics using Adobe Creative Cloud
- Provides event promotion and support, such as promotional plans and event attendance
- Collaborates and works on teams with people from diverse backgrounds
- Assists on other projects as needed, such as coordinating the production of print publications and videos and supporting stakeholders

Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy
- Write communications strategy in alignment with ODI strategic plan
- Integrate strategy school-wide by collaborating with other communicators
- Help with leadership messaging
- Operates as a resource and trains other communicators in ODI
- Ensure values, mission and vision are incorporated in all communications activities
- Other supporting duties for strategic planning for office
- Attend weekly ODI meetings
- Assist with departmental DEI plans and collaboration
Content creation and direction
- Create plans for internal and external distribution
- Individual news articles/announcements
- Supports partners and stakeholders across the university (such as other diversity events)
- Social media posts
- Submit to partners and stakeholder channels, add to Heersink News
Website management
- Strategic planning and user experience
- New system updates
- Staff Grand Rounds conversion
- Proofing
- Audit
- Metrics review
- AP style and language review, grammar edits
- Update voice to active voice
- Photography audit
- Learn technical components, build widget kits, etc.
- ADA digital compliance for visually and sensory impairments

- Attend events as needed

- Facilitates Annual Report design with UAB print shop
- Crafts copy for news articles and letters
- Collects photography

- Hire freelance and contract with them
- Support stakeholders through process
- Helps with approvals through University Relations
Salary Range: $47,665 - $77,455
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related field and one (1) year of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Minimum hiring rate must meet the most current FLSA guidelines for salary level and basis to remain exempt.
