The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Program Coordinator I to work part-time, 20 hours per week, in the Office of Advancement with the Benevolent Fund team. This position will o versee the day-to-day operations of the Employee Emergency Assistance Program, including intake, assessment, case documentation, case presentation, referrals to additional resources, and maintaining data on the program. The Program Coordinator may also assist with presentations and other events during the Benevolent Fund spring campaign.
This position works closely with the other members of the Advancement Office. The Program Coordinator will report directly to the Benevolent Fund Manager.
This position is hybrid and eligible after the probationary period.
Duties & Responsibilities:
High School diploma or GED and three (3) years of related experience required
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Field inquiries for financial assistance from employees, assess the appropriateness of requests based on program guidelines, communicate with the employees to understand the situation and gather required documentation, make referrals to additional resources, and prepare the cases for presentation to the committee.
- Communicate with and present cases to the Employee Emergency Assistance Committee for review.
- Process payment requests for approved assistance and enter case data into electronic records for the program.
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Experience working with people in times of crisis
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of local and national resources
- Work with diverse groups of people
- Critical thinking
- Very comfortable with math and problem-solving
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Qualtrics, and Oracle
- Reliable self-starter who is comfortable working independently after a period of training and as part of a team
