Job Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Biotechnology Program in the Department of Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences, is seeking applicants for an instructor position. This is a full time position focused on teaching laboratories, Applications in Biotechnology I, II, and III, of the Biotechnology Program.
General Responsibilities
- To maintain the laboratory through regular inventory of chemicals and processes that need to be restocked and checked off, respectively
- To set up each lab according to established protocols
- To perform experiments prior to the labs to ensure protocols work properly
- To assist in the teaching labs and ensure that students learn techniques properly
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain mammalian and bacterial cultures as needed
- Plan and perform experiments as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory
- Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies
- Direct other laboratory personnel
- Perform other duties as directed which will include transformation, plasmid isolation, tissue cultures, Western blot, PCR, etc.
Required Qualifications
PhD degree in Biotechnology or related field with experience in molecular biology techniques and their applications in biotechnology. Must have PhD before start date.
