General Responsibilities
- To lead in a broad area of research or in a narrow, but advanced and uniquely specialized field.
- To make authoritative decisions and recommendations that have major impact on extensive scientific research activities.
- To exercise a high degree of creativity, foresight and mature judgment in planning, organizing and guiding extensive scientific research programs and activities of outstanding novelty and/or importance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Doctor of Philosophy, D.V.M. or M.D. degree in a related field and ten (10) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
- Degree in Chemistry, physics, biochemistry, and molecular biophysics.
- Greater than ten years’ experience in the application of analytical ultracentrifugation including sedimentation, velocity, and sedimentation equilibrium experiments.
- Experience managing a team of six to ten researchers.
- Experience developing, implementing, and managing an analytical ultracentrifugation fee-for-service program.
- Expertise in protein purification.
- Expertise in nucleic acid chemistry.
- Experience with thermodynamic techniques including differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic and static light scattering, SEC-MALS, isothermal titration calorimetry.
- Experience with rapid mixing kinetic techniques including chemical quenched flow and fluorescence stopped flow.
