Associate Director – Campus Maintenance

Description
To direct the administrative and fiscal affairs of the Campus Maintenance department.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Leads the department's daily administrative and financial activities, including the development and oversight of financial forecasts, annual budgets, and detailed financial analysis. Maintains accountability in resource allocation and oversees effective equipment management.
- Serves as a liaison for upper management in interactions with University Administration, external organizations, and community stakeholders. Collaborates with Facilities and University departments on project planning, development, staffing, space management, IT coordination, and equipment oversight.
- Leads strategic and budget planning initiatives; formulates short- and long-term agreements with University departments. Develops and manages legal documentation, operational procedures, and policies to support division goals. Provides input on division projects and assists in creating and implementing business plans.
- Oversees and guides staff to ensure the successful completion of major projects and tasks. Participates in hiring processes, including interviewing, recommending candidates, and facilitating training. Evaluates employee performance, assigns work tasks, and monitors progress to maintain operational efficiency.
- Keeps up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices by engaging with professional publications and attending conferences.
- Collaborates in creating presentations for various stakeholders, leveraging a range of resources and support from University departments.
- Prepares financial forecasts and annual budgets. Conducts advanced financial analysis and manages revenue-related projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Leadership:
Manages functional area managers.
- Usually reports to a Director.
- Oversees complex and diverse tasks.
- Holds significant budgetary and expenditure authority.
- Formulates and proposes policies for the department or program.
- Assumes substantial HR responsibilities for staff.
Independent Judgement/Problem Solving:
- Develops strategic goals, plans, and policies for a specific area of responsibility. Sets broad objectives and is responsible for overall results. Has the authority to make independent decisions on significant matters. Requires a high degree of independent judgment and problem-solving for complex issues.
Customer Service Relationships:
- Predicts customer needs and motivates others to provide excellent service. Handles sensitive issues and ensures problem resolution. Sets customer service standards and establishes feedback systems for improvement. Holds themselves accountable for service excellence.
STARTING ANNUAL RATE OF PAY: $77,640.00 - $126,170.00 (Commensurate with experience & qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirements.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATIONS:
Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver’s license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.

- Works effectively with colleagues and external partners to achieve shared objectives and drive results.
PERSONAL: Required to possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities that require performing tasks, bending, stooping, kneeling, walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus, frequent traveling, prolonged standing, climbing stairs, and sitting at computer for long periods of time.
