The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Program Administrator II. The Program Admin II under general supervision, coordinates clinic linkage, retention, and re-engagement activities for newly diagnosed patient, patients at risk of falling out of care, and patients who have fallen out of care. Provides information, support, and assistance with overcoming barriers to care and navigating the healthcare system.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Administers the logistical support for a University-wide program, which is often of a large and/or complex nature
- May participate in developing program plans, objectives and directives.
- May supervise support staff. Acts as a communication liaison with outside resources.
- Plans and carries out special projects related to the success of the program.
- Responsible for adherence to program budget
- May provide education and training to UAB community and other community partners. Navigates people living with HIV regardless of date of diagnosis, to HIV care at the 1917 Clinic and elsewhere in accordance with existing protocols, in collaboration with the Linkage and Retention Team Facilitates community engagement events.
- Responds to the unique needs of a diverse population and ever-changing healthcare landscape. Demonstrates ability to successfully complete trainings on UAB's electronic medical record system (EMR), HIPAA, Trauma-Informed Approaches, Motivational interviewing, and other topics as appropriate and/or required.
- Manages UAB Emergency Department Programs Services for Linkage Retention
- Manages and develops processes and protocols.
- Onboarding new LRCs o Leads monthly UED/HED/GED check-in sessions
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics
- Bachelor's degree in public health or related field.
- Administers the logistical support for the 1917 Clinic in the area of linkage and retention. Develops program plans, objectives, and directives.
- Acts as a communication liaison with outside sources while planning and carrying out projects to the success of the program.
- Ability to coordinate projects related to community engagement and linkage to care within a large clinic setting.
- Capable of serving as a trusted member of the community.
- Able to build relationships between patients, community, and clinic.
- Experience in public speaking and facilitating problem-solving meetings for community challenges. Apply principles of Community Health Worker (i.e., capacity building, service coordination, relationship-building, coaching, social support).
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across multiple departments and systems within the clinic.
- Relate to others in a manner which creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
- Incorporate cultural humility, trauma-informed approach, and a desire to work within a community health setting on behalf of communities who have experienced discrimination and exclusion.
- Exhibit flexibility and cope effectively in an ever-changing, fast-paced healthcare environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity as well as professional ethics, including dependability, reliability, accountability, and responsibility.
- Capable of demonstrating autonomy and independence on projects and assignments.
Hourly Range: $18.35 - $25.00
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required.
