RESEARCH ASSISTANT

As a Research Assistant, you will contribute to the daily operations of research projects under the close supervision of experienced researchers. This role involves performing standard research tasks, including sample processing, basic data analysis, and maintaining accurate records. Your support will be crucial in helping senior team members execute complex protocols and ensuring the smooth functioning of the lab. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research participant contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Key Duties, Primary Responsibilities
- Collects, records, maintains and analyzes data and information in support of specialized and complex scientific research.
- Assists the Principle Investigator or Lab Manager in determining protocols to be used, conducts directed literature searches, and exercises judgment in applying scientific techniques and procedures.
- Independently performs a variety of complex assays, isolations, characterizations and techniques as outlined in the given protocol.
- Exhibits independence in the adaptation of equipment and sample conditions when encountering methodological problems.
- Serves as a resource for technicians and assistants; supervising their activities as needed.
- May assist in writing and editing grant proposals.
- May be responsible for the general maintenance of the lab facility including ordering supplies and assuring good operating condition of all laboratory equipment.

Salary Range: $16.50- $26.80
Education
- Associate's degree in a related field OR High School diploma or GED
- And two (2) years of related experience required.
- Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
