The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Med - Infectious Diseases, is seeking a Scientist I.
The Scientist I is needed as a key member in a research team with a diverse research portfolio, including local and international clinical studies in the area of sexual and reproductive health. They will work with the PI to design study activities and will perform and oversee data collection to ensure data integrity, quality control, and protocol compliance.
ALABAMA: This position will lead recruitment, interview guide development, and analysis for a newly funded study.
UGANDA: This position will also lead and train the data collection team in Uganda for a separate, additional, newly funded research project.
In addition to data analysis and interpretation, this position will write manuscripts and present research findings at national and international meetings. This position will direct the creation, writing, and management of IRB protocol submissions.

- To plan, coordinate, and conduct research.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Designs, performs, and/or oversees experiments and data collection to ensure data integrity, quality control, and protocol compliance.
- Analyzes and interprets data.
- Performs and/or oversees new research procedures.
- Writes manuscripts and grant components.
- Presents findings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Annual Salary Range $63,125.00 - $103,700.00
- Doctor of Philosophy, D.V.M. or M.D. degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
- OR M.D. and Master's degree.
- OR Master's degree and four (4) years of related experience
- OR Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of related experience
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
