Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm; some evenings & weekends required.
Job Summary: The Building Associate coordinates building operations and services. Monitors all buildings and facilities. Communicates facilities issues that may affect work or safety to occupants. Serves as initial contact for incoming shipments and deliveries.
Additional Department Summary: Reports to the Project Coordinator for University Libraries. Coordinates building services and systems within Gorgas Library, Rodgers Library Bruno Library, W.S. Hoole Special Collections and the University Libraries Archival Facility. Provides oversight of structural maintenance and building operations. Coordinates building services and systems for the smooth operation of five buildings within University Libraries operations. Assists with oversight of preventative maintenance program and recommends new preventative maintenance items. Coordinates inspections to ensure compliance with codes and safety regulations. On-call for building emergencies. Interacts with building occupants resolving day-to-day issues.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience in construction or building maintenance/monitoring.
Skills and Knowledge: Customer service, contractor relations, building security and safety, and records maintenance skills. Ability to use office-related computer applications. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, and Word, with strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize workflow efficiently utilizing creativity and independent thinking. Familiarity with building systems. Familiarity with building trades, construction methods and materials, HVAC systems, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, repairs, and maintenance. Ability to interact diplomatically with faculty, staff, and students. Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills are essential. Ability to work independently and without immediate supervision.
Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) years of facilities experience. Experience with building and architectural software. Experience working with outside vendors under contract for major services delivery.
