Position Summary
The University of Alabama School of Music is seeking a Renewable Contract Teaching Assistant Professor of Double Bass with a growing national reputation as a teacher and artist level performer. This is a renewable non-tenured appointment.

Detailed Position Information
The University of Alabama School of Music is seeking a Renewable Contract Teaching Assistant Professor of Double Bass with a growing national reputation as a teacher and artist level performer. This is a renewable non-tenured appointment.

Primary duties will be to recruit and teach students in applied bass at the undergraduate and graduate levels, teach bass methods, maintain a nationally recognized studio, and maintain activity as a performer at the regional/national level. Other teaching duties may be assigned based upon department need, such as courses in music appreciation.

The appointment will run from August 16, 2025 through May 15, 2026, with a possibility of extension after evidence of successful teaching and recruiting.

Minimum Qualifications
Successful recruiting and teaching experience at the college/university level is preferred. Documented performing experience at an artistic level with appropriate terminal degrees earned.

Master's Degree required.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a wide spectrum of success in the discipline of music.

Preferred Qualifications
DMA preferred, although significant and documented teaching/ recruiting and performance experience will be considered in place of earned degrees.
