The University Financial Systems Department plans, coordinates, and implements new and improved Finance business processes impacting the entire UA system, assists users in troubleshooting process issues, and monitors financial systems processes and data to ensure processes are functioning properly and data has integrity. This is done through coordination and collaboration with finance management and staff throughout the UA system.

This Finance Specialist position is responsible for managing the system office Accounts Payable functions; managing, coordinating, and troubleshooting several other system office finance operations including travel processing, JV processing, etc.; and functions as the system office security coordinator. This position provides project support, participates on system wide process improvement projects, and performs system testing related to the positions functions.

The position requires accounting knowledge and experience, a technical aptitude for learning software applications and data extraction, and strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and time-management skills. The position interacts with Finance users throughout the system so good communications skills are necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years college coursework coursework in accounting/business, computer science and three years progressively responsible experience related to the program specialty, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This is an in-person position located in the Butrovich building on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
