The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Testing Center is seeking a dynamic student to work part-time and assist with receptionist and proctor support duties in this professional office setting. As student receptionist/proctor, you will serve as first point of contact for the Testing Center to check in test takers.

The UAA Testing Center is a department within the UAA Office of Student Affairs. This department primarily facilitates testing by students and community members by providing professionally proctored exams. The Testing Center Student Assistant position works as a receptionist and proctor, for checking in test takers and proctoring tests as needed. This is a part-time position within a professional office setting.

To thrive in this role, a successful candidate would possess a solid foundation of customer service experience, along with a basic proficiency in computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat. The role demands an individual who is both punctual and reliable, due to the nature of proctored exams you must be on time to work every time. Demonstrate excellent attention to detail, a willingness to quickly learn and apply new information, and the ability to communicate and enforce testing center rules and regulations effectively. Additionally, proficiency in operating office equipment, preparing documents, and composing emails with careful proofreading is required. The ideal candidate will excel in a team-oriented environment while also being able to work independently when necessary, all while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications:

To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must:
a. Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or
b. Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and
c. Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer or his/her designee.
d. Students enrolled in non-traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the Senior Student Services officer.
e. An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.
f. Position reappointment is contingent upon successful progress toward degree completion and performance evaluation

Position Details:

This is a part-time, non-exempt student position, up to 20 hours a week during the academic year and potential for up to 40 hours a week during the Summer. Starting pay is $11.34.
