What are the responsibilities and job description for the InfoLink Distribution Assistant position at University of Alberta Students' Union?
About the Opportunity
The InfoLink Distribution Assistant is a temporary position that assists InfoLink and the ONEcard Program with the distribution of ONEcards and U-Pass information to University of Alberta students. Distribution Assistants are required at our Fall Distribution Event for the 2024-2025 academic year.
This role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service to students by providing them with concise and relevant information about their ONEcard and the U-Pass program. Distribution Assistants provide referrals to the appropriate offices or contacts when a question arises that they are not able to address themselves.
Working Conditions
- Work occurs on site at the University of Alberta North Campus and requires in-person interaction with large groups of people
- Hours of work are between the hours of 8:15am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday
- Some additional weekend shifts available (August 31, September 1 & 2)
- Standard hours per week are between 12 to 16 hours
- Uniform (t-shirt) will be provided and must be worn while on shift
- Training will be provided prior to the first shift in August
Core Duties
- Provide general assistance to the InfoLink and ONEcard Program staff in preparation for the distribution event. This includes:
- Sorting and organizing pre-printed ONEcards to facilitate distribution
- Ensuring the distribution area is tidy and printed information materials are readily available
- Issue ONEcards to University of Alberta students and follow procedures, policies, and FOIP standards surrounding distribution
- Provide accurate information about the functions and services associated with the student ONEcard and ONEcard program
- Provide accurate information regarding the benefits and policies of the Arc Card and U-Pass program
- Direct student questions about the ONEcard program and the U-Pass program to the appropriate offices
- Escalate student concerns and issues appropriately to senior staff
- Assist with line management to ensure the efficiency of distribution processes
- Provide exceptional customer service with a student-centered focus
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications are required for a candidate’s application to be considered.
- Must be a returning undergraduate student, enrolled in at least one course for the Fall 2024 term
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
- Must be available to work at least 12 hours per week between August 19, 2024 to September 6, 2024 between the hours of 8:15am to 4:30pm
- Able to work on-site at distribution locations, which includes frequent, in-person interactions with members of the public
- Available for in-person training on August 20, 2024 during the work day
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred but will not disqualify the candidate from consideration if not met.
- Available for shifts that are 3 hours or longer
- Familiarity with the ONEcard program and the University of Alberta campus
- Familiarity with the U-Pass program and the Students’ Union
- Previous customer service experience
- Strong communication and problem solving skills
- Previous experience working in a high-paced environment
- Previous cash/product handling experience
