Safewalk is your safe and free alternative to walking home alone at night. Our
wonderful volunteers accompany you when you're on campus late and not
comfortable getting home alone! They'll come along with you out to 10 blocks
from any LRT station, and pretty far from campus by foot.
Want to Volunteer with Safewalk?
Safewalk volunteers contribute on average 3 hours a week, and are expected
to be outside and active during their shifts with a fellow patroller. There are
other skill building opportunities and fun events that volunteers can choose to
take part in as well as plenty of snacks during shifts!
Volunteering with Safewalk is extremely rewarding. We offer flexible shifts that
volunteers can choose on a weekly basis. It is a three hour per week
commitment, and all shifts are in the evenings.
Safewalk is a great way to meet new people and get experience for your
resume, as well as get involved in the community. It's also an awesome study
break and a good way to get some exercise if you prefer patrolling options
(one Safewalk shift can burn about 800 calories!). Safewalk also believes that
no one should walk home alone, so when you're done with your shift, we will
make sure that you yourself get home safely!
