What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Senator position at University of Alberta Students' Union?
Job Details and Description
Three Student Senators are required to represent students on the University of Alberta Senate,
as well as delivering information on the Senate’s activities back to students.
The Senate, consisting of elected and appointed community leaders from around northern
Alberta, meets four times per year to explore ways in which the University can better connect
with the public. It may require reports from any part of the University, as well as receive and
consider submissions from any member of the public, and can deliver public opinions to the
University. It also has the power to confer honorary degrees.
Students are expected to attend all 4 Plenaries - Specifically, 8-10 hrs of commitment over two days per plenary. There is also an expectation to serve on 1-2 committees each of which meet for around 1 hour each month.
Qualifications
1. Must be an undergraduate student enrolled in at least one course for credit in the Fall
and Winter semesters of the 2025/26 academic year.
2. Must have an interest in student issues at the U of A, and a desire to represent student
interests to the University and public.

- The short writing sample should answer the question: What is your vision for the
