Summary of Job Duties :

The Creative Director for Marketing and Communications is a dynamic and visionary role that leads the creative direction and strategy of the Division of Student Affairs’ Communications & Marketing shared services unit. This position oversees a multidisciplinary team to produce innovative, compelling, and effective visual content that enhances the Division’s mission and strategic priorities, and enhances our engagement with students, staff, faculty, and external audiences. The creative services team will focus on brand management, graphic design, photography, videography, and website visual and user experience, and works with a team of content strategists to understand and execute each unique project. This position helps the division follow university and division brand standards and oversees internal printing services. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Communications & Marketing for the division.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in degree fields of Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related from an accredited institution of higher education

At least three years of professional experience in creative roles, such as graphic design, copywriting, video production, or digital marketing, with a proven track record of producing high-quality work

Demonstrated experience in developing comprehensive creative content

Preferred Qualifications :

Master’s degree in degree fields of Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related from an accredited institution of higher education

Experience in higher education and student affairs

Supervisory experience

At least five years of experience in creative roles, such as graphic design, copywriting, video production, or digital marketing, with a proven track record of producing highquality work

At least three plus years of leadership experience managing or supervising a creative team, demonstrating strong project management and people management skills

Experience in cross-functional collaboration, working closely with other teams to align creative work with division goals

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs) :

Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures

Proficient knowledge in Creative Software : Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, etc.) o Other design tools (Figma, Sketch, Canva, etc.) o Motion graphics and video editing tools (Premiere Pro, etc.) Understanding of web design and UX / UI principles, if applicable o Basic knowledge of HTML / CSS and other web technologies may be beneficial o Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress or similar tools

Knowledge of a variety of marketing / communication skills including photography, videography, media relations, graphic design

Knowledge of current trends in higher education communications / marketing

Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and community members

Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Ability to serve as a visionary leader to a large team

Ability to develop and execute strategic communication and marketing plans that support organizational objectives

Ability to budget and allocate resources for creative projects, ensuring work is completed efficiently and within scope

Ability to delegate tasks effectively and ensure team members' growth through mentorship and constructive feedback

Ability to utilize analytics tools to measure the effectiveness of communication and marketing efforts, making data-driven decisions to optimize strategies

Additional Information :

This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.

Salary Information :

61,735 (Commensurate with education and experience)
