Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED
Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technologist Program OR have Two (2) years of on-the-job trained (OJT) Scrub Tech experience
Must have excellent communication skills
Strong work ethics, and accountability
Preferred Qualifications:
Patient care and/or healthcare-related experience
Current Certification
Two (2) or more years of previous experience as a Surgical Scrub Tech
Additional Information:
Employees in this role must be fitted for, and capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment including N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR), or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
Responsibilities:
Ensures availability of appropriate instrumentation, supplies and equipment for assigned cases.
Ensures that the room has been prepared for the upcoming cases, with appropriate equipment available and ready for surgical use.
Ensures that the instruments are cleaned arranged and transported to the soiled workroom according to department policy;
independently assists with instrument reprocessing tasks when assigned cases are completed and time permits;
Ensures that the operating rooms are case-ready for the following day's cases;
Exhibits practical knowledge of OR equipment including maintenance and safety aspects.
Utilizes available communication tools.
Demonstrates teamwork by offering assistance to other team members.
Shares knowledge information and expertise with other staff;
Attends departmental in-services and other educational offerings;
Consistently demonstrates new knowledge and skills through incorporation into actual clinical practice.
Willing to learn new techniques.
Performs other duties as assigned.
