Department: ICE | NUSL Mid-Level Spine IOP C Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: The APRN/Physician Assistant, (PA), will assist physician with clinic, organizing visits and performing clinic procedures, assist in the operating room, answer pages and round on post-operative patients on a daily and PRN basis. The PA will augment a physician's ability to provide medical services to patients; collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations and provide direct patient care services. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Masters Degree in Physician Studies or Masters Degree in Advanced Practice Nursing AR Licensure/APRN/PA license Prescriptive authority and DEA license must be obtained after hire. Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years experience Additional Information: Responsibilities: Obtains a relevant health and medical history, performs a comprehensive physician examination, identifies health risks and needs, updates and records changes in health status, and assesses mental and functional status Implements treatment plans, orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic tests, prescribes medical treatments and medications, and manages health issues in collaboration with designated physician(s) Provides an acceptable plan of care that maximizes the patient's health potential and takes into account ordering of appropriate diagnostic tests, identifying and prescribing appropriate pharmacologic agents when needed, and identifying and planning non-pharmacologic interventions when appropriate Promotes optimal health of the patient by including preventive and health promotion activities into the plan of care and participating in clinical pathway development and quality management activities. Participates as a team member in patient care conferences with other health disciplines, and in clinical case conferences and other department/campus meetings Educates, instructs, and counsels patients and families on presenting health problems, treatment plans, and home care Facilitates appropriate patient referrals to multidisciplinary and other specialty providers Consults with physicians and other health professionals when needed.
