Key Responsibilities:
1.Academic Advising and Support:
*Advise student-athletes on course selection, academic policies, and degree requirements.
*Monitor academic progress and ensure compliance with NJCAA, and institutional eligibility standards.
*Develop individualized academic plans for student-athletes, considering their athletic schedules and long-term goals.
*Assist with admission, registration, major declaration, academic program completion, transfer opportunities, and career exploration.
2.Mentorship and Development:
*Provide guidance on time management, study skills, and balancing academic and athletic responsibilities.
*Offer support and strategies for addressing academic challenges, including referrals to tutoring or campus resources.
*Promote personal and professional growth through workshops, goal-setting sessions, and career planning.
3.Collaboration and Communication:
*Serve as a liaison between academic departments, athletic coaches, campus support services, and student-athletes.
*Communicate academic progress, concerns, and updates with coaching staff while maintaining student confidentiality.
*Partner with the athletic director to ensure NJCAA and institutional regulations adherence.
4.Program Development and Administration:
*Contribute to the design and implementation of academic success programs tailored to student-athletes.
*Maintain accurate records of student-athlete progress and advising sessions.
*Stay informed about NJCAA regulations, institutional policies, and best practices in academic advising for student-athletes.
5.Crisis and Problem Management:
*Provide support and guidance during personal or academic crises.
*Advocate for student-athletes within the institution to address barriers to their success.Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, sports management, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate athletic schedules.
