Summary of Job Duties:This is a full-time, 9-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor to begin August 2025. Its location is mainly on-site, teaching a minimum of 24 credit hours per academic year utilizing various modalities, including traditional, hybrid, synchronous online, asynchronous online, 8-week, and 16-week. The faculty member is also expected to engage in both scholarly and service activities. This position reports directly to the Department Head of Psychology.Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Work Experience:

  • Doctorate in Psychology from an accredited institution (ABD candidates may be hired at the rank of instructor and will be promoted to Assistant professor upon completion of their PhD.).
  • College-level teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the effective use of technology in the classroom, the development of instructional materials, and distance learning delivery methods that address a variety of learning styles.
  • Evidence of scholarship in the discipline.
  • A teaching philosophy with an emphasis on critical thinking, accessibility, and inclusivity is necessary.
  • Experience working with first-generation and non-traditional learners is preferred.
  • Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach a variety of undergraduate Psychology program courses, inclusive of those in one's area of expertise. Preference will be given to applicants who can teach courses in the following areas: Behavioral Statistics, Research Methods, Experimental Psychology, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
  • Take part in scholarly, creative, and research activities that can involve student researchers.
  • Engage in student advisement, recruitment, and retention activities.
  • Maintain weekly office/availability hours.
  • Participate in service at the department, college, university, community, and professional levels.
  • Contribute to development, implementation, and evaluation of new curriculum.
  • Attend commencement ceremonies, and other department, college, and university level meetings/events as required.
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned by the Department Head.

Special Job Dimensions:

Physically able to complete all job requirements. Ability to handle the workload of 24 credit hours per year, research, and service broadly defined. Must teach in multiple modalities, i.e., in-person and distance learning modalities. Work performed primarily seated at a desk in an office, as well as within the classroom setting. Most work is completed electronically via a computer, which demands extended periods of time focusing on a computer screen, completing, and reviewing documents online, responding to emails, attending virtual meetings, grading student work, and so forth.


Salary Information:

$45,000-53,000/9 month, commensurate with education end experience
