Required Education and/or Experience:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering;
PhD in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline (Degree must be from an accredited university). ABD may be considered;
Demonstrated strong English communication skills.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
Prior teaching engineering courses;
Experience in teaching in a hybrid or on-line environment;
Expertise in engineering software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Ansys, MATLAB;
Post-doctoral or industrial experience.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Mechanical Engineering and
advanced graduate courses in their research areas;
Teach courses in areas of Robotics, Mechatronics, Acoustics, Vibrations, Statics, Dynamics;
Machine Design, Solid Modeling, and Mechanical Engineering labs;
Teaching assignments may require teaching day and /or evening classes as needed;
Advise undergraduate and graduate students;
Supervise graduate research projects;
Establish and maintain an externally funded research program that includes the support of
graduate and undergraduate students;
Be actively engaged in research and professional development - Professional activities
include participating in professional meetings and workshops; and establishing appropriate
relationships with industry;
Serve on program, school, college, and university committees; and engage in other service
and research activities;
Publish scholarly articles in conference proceedings and technical journals;
Assist with activities related to ABET accreditation activities in the school for the Mechanical
Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology programs;
Participation in outreach activities;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to develop and teach courses and laboratories in Mechanical
Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology;
Demonstrated strong English verbal and written communication skills;
Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-
Cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and
minorities;
Ability to collaborate with existing faculty.
