We seek candidates working in astrophysics whose research interests complement and expand those of our current astrophysics faculty including multi-wavelength studies of galaxy structure and evolution, high-energy phenomena in galaxies (X-ray binaries and AGN), black holes, and gravitational wave sources -- see

The requirements are a Ph.D. degree in astronomy/astrophysics or a closely related field, as well as demonstrated ability and commitment to excellence in independent research through an active research agenda and scholarly productivity beyond the Ph.D. The successful candidate is expected to establish a research program capable of attracting funding from outside sources and to mentor graduate students in our Ph.D. program. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the teaching and service activities of the Physics Department and the University. Teaching duties include undergraduate and/or graduate student course instruction at a level commensurate with an R1 research institution and mentoring both graduate and undergraduate students in research.
The position includes funds that support the hiring of a postdoctoral researcher, a PhD student, travel, and other research support funds.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
