The Dietetic Technician is responsible for daily routines and functions in order to see that all patients receive meals in a timely fashion and the meals meet the Physician order and patient preferences. The Dietetic Technician Level I is responsible for assisting in planning and implementing nutritional programs and services in the hospital.Qualifications:
Minimum:
- High School diploma/GED plus 2 years of experience in customer service.
- Ideal candidate is team-oriented and has great customer service skills.
- Must be able to work during Inclement Weather.
- Must be able to work rotating Weekends and Holidays.
Preferred:
- Experience in a food service or patient care setting.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting patients and ensures that patients receive meals and nourishments in accordance to current diet orders and food allergens.
- Proactively seeks patients' food orders for those who did not call the call center, may have difficulty speaking, hearing or seeing, and those that may need language assistance.
- Takes food orders, promptly and accurately within the constraints of the diet order, at the bedside with IPads.
- Makes selections into the electronic meal selection on room service assist and house selection criteria.
- Updates and records patient information from the electronic medical record, correct menu choices based on meal patterns, allergies and patient preferences while alerting the Lead Room Service Ambassadors or Supervisors to any issues.
- Serves trays in a timely manner according to the departmental policies and procedures.
- Accurately identifies patient and appropriate tray by using two patient identifiers.
- Assesses and trouble-shoots issues at the point of service that may impact patient satisfaction.
- Responds to patient requests by communicating with appropriate staff.
- Retrieves trays from assigned patient units after the patients have finished their meals.
- Prepares beverages following thickened policies when required.
- Stocks coolers, freezers and dry storage items in the patient food area.
- Stores supplies and food according to department standards.
- Ensures FIFO, proper temperatures, and properly labeling standards are applied
- Follows cleaning checklist and maintains a clean and organized work area
- Greets customers in a courteous manner, identifying themselves by name and department, maintains eye contact and offers assistance.
- Serves as a role model for other employees by modeling appropriate behaviors including taking initiative to cross-train and assist others, exhibiting flexibility, and maintaining a focus on customer service.
- Demonstrates integrity, compassion, respect, and a positive attitude to co- workers, patients, visitors, and UAMS staff regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religious belief, age and/or disability.
- Completes other duties as assigned by management.
