Summary of Job Duties:
This position is responsible for planning, managing, and implementing a comprehensive annual giving program to cultivate and grow annual giving at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith (UAFS). This role requires an entrepreneurial mindset with results driven practices in all annual giving activity, and the ability to grow a donor base. This position will work strategically with the university advancement team, and university partners to design and grow a long-term, sustainable annual giving program.

Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Work Experience: Minimum qualifications include bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of three (3) years of experience in nonprofit, higher education, fundraising, sales, marketing, communications, or relationship management.
Preferred Education and/or Work Experience: Preferred qualifications include previous fundraising, fundraising campaign strategy, or marketing and communication strategy.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Annual Giving Program Management
  • Administer and oversee the annual giving program, including overall strategy and appeals.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive solicitation calendar in alignment with the overall communication strategy for university advancement.
  • Collaborate with university partners—including marketing, communications, alumni, and finance teams—to execute appeals and fundraising initiatives.
  • Research and adopt best practices, benchmarking, and aspire-to-programs to enhance annual giving efforts.
Donor Cultivation and Portfolio Management
  • Analyze donor data and pipeline reports to guide donor engagement strategies and assess potential prospects.
  • Support university advancement by developing strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership annual giving donors.
  • Engage prospects through emails, meetings, telephone calls, and personalized outreach.
  • Depending on experience, may manage a portfolio of donor prospects from identification through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Partner with the UAFS marketing and communications team to set annual communications and solicitation strategy for annual giving which may include: solicitation materials for all annual appeals, direct mail, email, and digital campaigns.
  • Work closely with the UAFS Alumni Department to align and support annual giving efforts through alumni engagement emails.
  • Track and report on fundraising progress, evaluating the effectiveness of strategies and campaigns.
Reporting & Evaluation
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics to achieve annual giving goals.
  • Prepare analyses and recommendations to refine and improve annual giving efforts.
Stewardship
  • Work with the stewardship team to recognize and celebrate annual giving donors.
  • Ensure donors are retained and engaged through thoughtful stewardship plans.
  • Lead activities related to the tracking and acknowledgment of leadership giving society donors.
  • Develop a process for reviewing and moving high-level annual giving donors to a major gift officer
Other Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for developing relationships with and between faculty and alumni, friends, and corporate and foundation leaders that result in effective partnering and increased philanthropic funding for the university
  • Attend University and Foundation events in an effort to continuously identify new prospects and cultivate relationships of current donors
  • Maintain accurate donor records through timely contact reports
  • Provide support to staff and campus on special projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Additional Information:
Working Relationships: This position will interact regularly with other advancement/foundation staff, other UAFS staff, UAFS students and varying degrees of external constituents to the university. This could include organizations, volunteers, donors, alumni and board members.

Special Job Dimensions: Work performed primarily in an office/classroom setting. Occasional travel and extended hours required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. Required abilities include walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods. Visual demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee regularly talks and hears. Employee occasionally lifts items up to 10 pounds.

Salary Information:
$55,000/year, final salary commensurate with education and experience.
