Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED Plus 1 year of Patient Care in a health care setting.
- Successful completion of the UAMS PCT and PSC courses within a probationary period (90 days).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) or more years of Patient Care/Healthcare Clerical experience.
- Previously employed in a fast-paced periop and/or outpatient preop or recovery area.
Additional Information:
Employees in this role must be fitted for, and capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment including N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR), or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
Responsibilities:
- Assists patients with direct patient care.
- Accepts direction from RN and team members and follows through on delegated patient care activities.
- Provides appropriate grooming/oral hygiene and comfort measures and assists patients with mobility-related activities.
- Accurately and promptly documents all patient care tasks, vital signs, ADL, wave tests, and I & O's per unit and department standards.
- Obtains patient reports and communicates with RN regarding patient care. Informs nurse of patient requests or complaints.
- Carries out Plan of Care for patients using a Multidisciplinary Approach delegated by the Team Leader.
- Communicates effectively with other team members to facilitate patient care.
- Assists patients and visitors with information and/or solutions to problems.
- Serves as a resource to support department members in performing duties.
- Notifies appropriate staff of problems requiring prompt intervention.
- Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients. Transports patients to other areas of the hospital as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
