As a core member of our community-based program, you will be responsible for delivering nutrition education programs to underserved populations in partnership with local public health organizations. Your primary focus will be on creating a healthier school and community environment through evidence-based interventions.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in community education, community engagement, and teaching best practices. You will work closely with community leaders, school administrators, teachers, and parent educators to develop inclusive program practices for all eligible racial/ethnic groups. This role requires effective communication skills, presentation expertise, and the ability to write compelling reports and news releases.
Responsibilities
- Deliver lessons using adult and/or youth engagement techniques aligned with UC-approved curricula and activities
- Extend education to community partners and program participants on applying learned skills and knowledge to promote positive changes within their working and living environments
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers from community organizations and schools to deliver UC-approved curricula and activities
- Meet with local partners to discuss lesson delivery and develop outreach plans
- Collaborate with other programs to coordinate outreach efforts and maintain records of partnerships and community events
Requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent experience/training in a related field (nutrition, public health, community health, etc.)
- Continuing education, training, or professional development in a related field
- Knowledge of community education, community engagement, teaching best practices, and Microsoft Office programs
- Experience working with diverse youth, adults, and volunteers, including those with disabilities and from underserved populations
- Familiarity with schools and community-based agencies serving lower-income populations
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, presentation skills, and report-writing abilities
