Senior Farm Technician Role

About this Position

We are seeking a Senior Farm Technician to join our team at Kearney REC. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for performing all phases of cultural practices, including the operation of complex farm equipment, layout/installation and operation of irrigation systems, pesticide/chemical applications, leading seasonal farm labor, and assisting with the maintenance of physical plant and equipment. Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of duties related to farming, including land preparation, planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.
• Operate complex farm equipment, such as tractors and irrigation systems.
• Apply pesticides and fertilizers according to established protocols.
• Lead and instruct seasonal farm labor in the performance of various activities.
• Maintain accurate records and logs for crop care activities.

Requirements:

• A minimum of three years of experience working in agriculture, preferably in a supervisory role.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
• Familiarity with computer systems, including Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
• Ability to work safely and follow all safety procedures.
• Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation.
