The position requires excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, a strong publication record, and experience in sustainable agricultural research, extension, and education. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in agricultural science, plant science, environmental science, ecology, entomology, plant pathology, weed science, agronomy, soil science, or a closely related field.
The Cooperative Extension Specialist will serve as the Faculty Director of the UC Organic Agriculture Institute and provide academic expertise and leadership to guide programmatic activities carried out by the institute staff. They will also collaborate with UC SAREP leadership to develop and support research, extension education, technical assistance, and outreach programming focused on certified, transitioning, and aspiring organic producers.
