A reasonable full-time salary range for this position is $83,935-$186,446. Starting salary will be commensurate with the highest degree, past college-level teaching experience, relevant industry experience, and equity within the department.
Anticipated start :
Summer, July 1; Fall semester, August 1; Spring semester, Jan 1.
Applicants are considered for positions as needs arise; the existence of this pool does not guarantee that a position is available.

Position duration :
Depending on instructional assignments, lecturers may be appointed for six weeks during the summer, for a semester, or for the academic year. Please note : These positions are temporary appointments with no guarantee of reappointment at the end of the term.

Position description :
The Interdisciplinary Social Sciences Program (ISSP) oversees the interdisciplinary majors, minors, and graduate programs within the Social Sciences Division of the College of Letters and Sciences at UC Berkeley. Housed in ISSP, the Master of Computational Social Science (MaCSS) is a one-year professional master's program that provides students with practical skills for analyzing, interpreting, and visualizing social data.
DUTIES OF THE POSITION :
Teaching one or more of the following courses :
- Introduction to Computing
- Introduction to Applied Statistics
- Advanced Computing
- Applied Statistics
- Ethics, Data, & Society
- Special topics in Computational Social Science
- Career Development
- Capstone Project
In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties may include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials, writing exams, interacting with students outside of class time, and managing teaching assistants.
