The University of California, Davis (UC Davis), one of the top public research institutions in the world, seeks a collaborative and visionary leader to serve as Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Health and Wellness. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) will provide senior leadership, oversight, and advocacy for Student Health & Counseling Services (SHCS) and serve as the campus subject matter expert on student health and wellness. The AVC will provide leadership for all aspects of SHCS programs and services, including setting strategic direction, ensuring the outstanding delivery of outpatient medical and mental health services, advocating for campus wellness, and implementing public health initiatives for the benefit of the campus community. Above all, this leader will serve as a passionate advocate for student health and wellbeing at the university and within the Division of Student Affairs, articulating and modeling a student-centered focus in all activities and initiatives.
Student Health & Counseling Services provides student-centered integrated services that are inclusive, innovative, and promote health equity, which reduce barriers to physical, emotional, and social wellbeing in support of student success. The SHCS mission is to enhance the physical and mental health of students in order to help them achieve academic success, personal development and lifelong wellness by providing an integrated program of quality, accessible, cost-sensitive, and confidential healthcare services, tailored to students' unique and diverse needs and to assist the university community, through consultation and education, to develop a healthy campus environment consistent with the UC Davis Principles of Community
Reporting directly to Vice Chancellor Pablo Reguerín, the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Health and Wellness is a key member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team and the Vice Chancellor's Council, playing a critical role in advancing the Division's initiatives and focusing on integrated, student-centered services that promote student success and well-being. The Associate Vice Chancellor also advises and makes recommendations to the Vice Chancellor and other senior leaders on policy, public health, and resource issues impacting student health and wellness. Key responsibilities include program quality management, risk management, accreditation compliance, resource management, and professional development. The role requires identifying opportunities to improve collaboration, efficiency, and innovation across student health and wellness units and the campus broadly, particularly in areas such as educational programming, business operations, student employment, marketing, and technology.
The AVC of Student Health and Wellness will oversee a $67 million portfolio to include a team of 170 professionals, including 20 managers and supervisors. This role ensures provision of counseling and mental health services for 40,000 UC Davis students, the provision of high-quality medical and clinical services, risk management, accreditation compliance, and continuous improvement, revenue generation, fiscal solvency, and SHCS administration including the UC Student Health Insurance Program, and pre- and post-doctoral training opportunities and professional development for emerging clinicians and providers.

Compensation Information : The University of California, Davis, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The annual salary the University reasonably expects to pay for the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Health and Wellness is $211,000-294,000.
