Radiation Oncology provides patient care in patient populations ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics, with patient acuity ranging from general outpatient to inpatient ICU ventilated patients. Patient conditions include benign and malignant hematologic and solid tumor diagnoses seen within a variety of sub-specialties to include but not limited to: Brain, Breast, Gastrointestinal, Gynecologic, Head and Neck, Thoracic and Urologic specialties. This position is a 1.0 career position, with variable hours and days to include occasional weekends.
The incumbent will possess an advanced level of clinical knowledge with independent decision-making skills regarding medical diseases, treatment, management of symptoms and adverse events. Day to day operations include and is not limited to the following: accurate payroll, staffing, patient scheduling, exam room utilization, and assist in patient care as needed. The Assistant Nurse Manager is a registered nurse who is responsible for the operation of the nursing unit over a specific time period.
The Assistant Nurse Manager must have a strong foundation of clinical knowledge and skills on which to base judgements and make decisions, organizing abilities to direct nursing tasks and operations, and interpersonal skills to facilitate communication and the work of others. The Assistant Nurse Manager accepts the responsibility for and is accountable for. his/her own nursing practice. The Assistant Nurse Manager also seeks out and pursues opportunities for learning and assumes responsibility for their own self-development. Registered nurses must be knowledgeable and skillful in performing the Assistant Nurse Manager role. A registered nurse who assumes the role of Assistant Nurse Manager also assumes the responsibility inherent to the role. Three fundamental responsibilities for Assistant Manager include planning, coordinating, and evaluating unit nursing activities.
In addition, the Assistant Nurse Manager identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluates results for a wide variety of patient populations, directs and acts as a resource to other members of the nursing team as assigned and promotes compliance and support for policies. The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient acre; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties; and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
The Assistant Nurse Manager 2 in Radiation Oncology will provide and/or oversee patient care for patient populations ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics, with patient acuity ranging from general outpatient to inpatient ICU ventilated populations. Patient conditions include benign and malignant hematologic and solid tumor diagnoses seen within a variety of sub-specialties to include but not limited to: Brain, Breast, Gastrointestinal, Gynecologic, Head and Neck, Thoracic and Urologic specialties. Duties will include both direct and indirect oversight and/or patient care and is not limited to case management, triaging of patients in clinic and on the telephone, patient and staff education, special procedure scheduling with multidisciplinary teams, pediatric and adult anesthesia care/recovery, moderate sedation, brachy therapy/gamma knife procedures, vascular access, medication administration, pacemaker interrogation and wound care.
Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with American Nurses' Association Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgement is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Possession of valid California RN license without restrictions.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Certification or UC Davis CPR
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Moderate Sedation Certification (within 3 months of hire)
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with BSN
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience.
- At least 1 year of clinical experience in a critical care setting or Procedural/Perioperative/Surgical.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Minimum of 1 year of Oncology experience.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately
- Knowledge of current trends in nursing
