Under supervision of the Executive Director, Office of Clinical Research, the Administrative Officer is responsible for administrative operations for the Office of Clinical Research, including staff recruitment and human resources, strategic planning, and facilities and operations management, administration of the departmental operating budget and all accounts payable, purchasing, and travel transactions. The incumbent works independently and exercises accountability, confidentiality, initiative, originality and sound, professional judgment in interpreting, developing and implementing business principles and practices.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in related area or discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years of administrative, operations and/or financial experience.
- Project management experience with organizational skills to effectively monitor and manage multiple projects or large-scale projects with multiple, overlapping deadlines and tasks.
- Experience in financial reporting in the form of written reports, informal briefings, formal presentations and summaries.
- Experience applying budgetary planning principles, policies and procedures, and familiarity with budgetary projections and analysis in a multiple-fund environment.
- Experience preparing concise reports, analyzing and compiling statistical information, and developing procedural documentation.
- Human Resources experience.
- Analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills to research and understand complex processes and inter-relationships, discern the nature of a problem of varying complexities, and work with multiple data sources to identify trends and formulate resolutions.
- Successful track record managing multiple complex projects and meeting deadlines.
- Skill to articulate procedures and processes to staff.
- Professional experience and political acumen to handle sensitive or difficult situations diplomatically, to represent the organization with tact and discretion, and to work effectively and sensitively with constituents from diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher education or academic medical center experience or equivalent complex organization experience that demonstrated effectiveness, collaboration, and accountability in handling all aspects of operations.
- Demonstrated experience using electronic financial, HR and reporting systems.
- Experience with University and campus policy and procedures, specifically accounting practices and procedures, and HR processes.

Department Overview
The UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCDCCC) is a campus-wide multidisciplinary matrix organization whose mission is to reduce the burden of cancer among the diverse populations in our community and beyond through bidirectional engagement and transdisciplinary collaborations that enhance our understanding of cancer, inform new ways to prevent and treat cancer, and prepares a committed and inclusive workforce. The Office of Clinical Research (OCR) is the centralized office for clinical research operations within UCDCCC. The OCR services support the entire lifecycle of cancer-related clinical research protocols. These include support for development and implementation of clinical trials, quality control of clinical research operations, and training and education services. The OCR's facilities include administrative offices in Facilities Services and Support Building and the Administrative Support Building, and correlative lab space in the Cancer Center. The OCR is comprised of over 100 FTEs with an annual operating budget of over $14M.
