Clinical Research Assistant
This role is for Clinical Research Assistants to support the Primary Investigator (PI) in achieving study aims, including collecting, analyzing, and managing clinical data. . Clinical data collection will take place in various hospitals, clinics, community agencies and organizations, at the SON, in participants' homes or work environments, or may be digitally collected via online platforms.
Clinical Research Assistants serve as part of the research team and will collaborate with PIs, students, multidisciplinary scholars, community partners, participants and more to ensure all study aims are met. Training and development is offered before work begins.
The outcomes for research projects vary based on the specific aims of the study. All health sciences research at the SON aims to positively impact the rapidly changing health care environment to improve patient experiences and outcomes. The clinical research assistant applies knowledge from clinical practice and the profession to achieve the goals.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Must be a Registered Nurse with a clear and active California license.
- Bachelor's degree in related area
- Minimum of 1 year experience in one of the following areas: medical surgical nursing, critical care, pediatrics, maternity, community health, or mental health nursing.
- Experience managing programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy.
- Demonstrated ability to think both strategically and tactically to achieve study aims.
- Implements systems for complying with regulations and study protocols. Ensures current research study needs are met by assessing and intervening as needed to support data quality, by evaluating the data, data trends, research subjects' experiences, and research team collaborations; compiling and presenting data to the PI, community partners, and sponsors; and actively leading and participating in continuous improvement efforts.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and diplomatically with a diverse group of people including faculty, staff, students, multidisciplinary teams and diverse community partners; respond to questions and concerns; and comprehend the specialized needs of research subjects from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Excellent organizational skills to work under frequent interruptions; to independently establish priorities, anticipate job requirements, organize work flow to work effectively to achieve timely progress on multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Excellent independent decision-making skills to work with ambiguities where clear guidelines are not present. Demonstrated skills to identify issues, provide recommendations, referrals, and seek resources to develop solutions.
- Ability to function well and with a great deal of flexibility in a fast-paced working environment; strong initiative and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop research program partnerships with a variety of clinical sites, community agencies, and various populations throughout the Sacramento region.
- Ability to work with and maintain the confidentially of research subjects and community partners information and records, including health records.
- Excellent oral and written skills to communicate with the PI, multidisciplinary research faculty, staff, students and sites.
- Knowledge and commitment to UC Affirmative Action policies and procedures, specifically related to retention and support of graduate students from traditionally under-represented groups

Work Environment
UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Ability to work onsite and/or remotely as required Positions are seasonal, based on the approved specialty area of the applicant. Positions will fluctuate between part time and zero % time depending on the needs of the of the study and may be contingent on funding. Note: Though RN licensure is required, the purpose of this role is not to provide direct patient care. It is to utilize the incumbent's understanding of the professional field to assist with conducting all aspects of health sciences research.
