Job Summary
Under general supervision of the Associate Director provide instructional design support to the Artificial Intelligence Institute for Next Generation Food System (AIFS)'s grants related to supporting the AI Institute Virtual Organization (AIVO). This position has a high visibility among over 27 federally funded AI institutes (see aiinstitutes.org for more information) and their approximately 150 sub awardees. Work within an AIFS team dedicated to the AIVO activities, to collect information about all institutes' AI education material in various formats, organize it, with an eventual goal of posting an organized suite of AI education materials on a centralized portal for use by all institutes and the public in general. Work with other AIFS staff involved with AIVO in the execution of these goals including programmer, communications and marketing, program assistant, graphics, and events coordinator. Provide support to other AIFS staff and contractors as needed. Support project implementation, evaluation, research and analysis. Implement and maintain project plans and timelines, communications and schedules.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and / or certification if required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in instructional design or related field, and / or equivalent experience / training.
- At least 1 year working in an instructional design role.
- At least 1 year working placing course material into an instructional content delivery portal.
- Thorough knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, etc.
- Thorough knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning.

Department Overview
The USDA / NSF AI institute of Food Systems (AIFS) is a partnership of 6 organizations (UC Davis, UC Berkeley, Cornell, UIUC, UC ANR, USDA) with a mission to empower the next generation with sustainable production, processing, and distribution of nutritious food through transformative AI technologies. Headquartered in Davis, CA, it is one of the 27 national institutes funded by NSF and USDA in 6 thematic areas of strategic importance to the nation. AIFS involves a team of approximately 50 faculty and other professionals working on research, education and outreach programs, across a nationwide network of partners and local offices. AIFS administers grants from the National Science Foundation to lead the AI Institutes Virtual Organization (AIVO).
Significant duties by this position on behalf of AIFS for the AIVO grants involve implementing a grant from Google.org, which funds two programs. One of these programs is to support education about AI by all AI institutes by identifying quality instructional material and aggregating it into a common portal. The program also supports the delivery of live impactful instructional events that may be a smaller scale. Another program involves supporting five institutes dedicated to applying AI to education. This position may be asked to support synergistic efforts of those institutes.

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Smoking, the use of smokeless tobacco products, and the use of unregulated nicotine products (e-cigarettes) will be strictly prohibited on any UC Davis owned or leased property, indoors and outdoors, including parking lots and residential space.
University setting in a building with open work areas offering collaborative opportunities. Private meeting and conference rooms one same floor. University equipment which is offered for use at work area included a two-monitor setup, university laptop, and an adjustable height desk and chair. Staff coordinates number of days per week in office at 3. 3 days / week on campus but 100% remote will be considered
