Position overview
Salary range: INTERNAL RECRUITMENT TO UC DAVIS ONLY. The Paul K. and Ruth Stumpf Endowed Professorship in Plant Biochemistry provides additional funding to a current UC Davis academic appointee in the ladder rank series. The additional funding may support the endowed chair holder in areas of teaching, research and outreach activities directly related to the purpose of the endowment.

Position description

The holder of the Paul K. and Ruth Stumpf Endowed Professorship will be a senior faculty member in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology or Plant Biology whose specialty is in the area of Plant Biochemistry and whose distinguished scholarship is nationally recognized.

The initial term of the Paul K. and Ruth Stumpf Endowed Professorship is for five years. The holder is not eligible to be considered for a subsequent appointment until after a seven-year interval. The endowment pay out will support the chair's efforts in research, teaching and service and further the mission of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology or Plant Biology and the campus.

It is expected that the holder of the endowed professorship will advance normally on the basis of his/her scholarly activities, teaching, University and public service.

Responsibilities of the Endowed Professorship:

* Engage in teaching and scholarly activities focused in the area of Plant Biochemistry.
* Teach three courses a year in the undergraduate and graduate programs in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology or Plant Biology and the Plant Biology Graduate Group.
* Conduct research on Plant Biochemistry and perform service to the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology or Plant Biology and the broader community in which it is situated.
* Provide leadership in the area of Plant Biochemistry and be fully engaged in activities in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology or Plant Biology.
* Enhance the academic and intellectual life of the campus as a whole.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

The Endowed Professorship holder should be a member of the UC Davis faculty at the Full Professor level in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology or Plant Biology.

Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position)

*Research and teaching focus will be on plant biochemistry.
*Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to conduct scholarly research resulting in high quality publications, and should also show evidence of a strong teaching program at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
