UCI Health serves a region of nearly 4 million people in Orange County, western Riverside County and southeast Los Angeles County.To learn more about UCI Health, visit www.ucihealth.org.Your Role on the TeamPosition Summary : The incumbent in this position will be responsible for the overall management of pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, and medication safety for all assigned area(s). This includes supervision of daily activities of the staff assigned to these work areas, and for all operational activities and processes designed to provide evidence-based and cost effective medication dispensing, monitoring, distribution, customer service, and appropriate patient care. Responsible for the tactical and strategic planning for his / her area(s) of responsibility in coordination with the Executive Director of Pharmacy and Chief Pharmacy Officer. Provides leadership and oversight for training, education, and competency of pharmacy staff. Recruits, hires, supervises, and evaluates pharmacy staff. Ensures compliance with all Federal and State regulations, and departmental policies. Develops and implements sustainable policies and procedures, provides oversight of payroll and scheduling, and provides staffing support as necessary. Provides leadership and oversight for medication safety and security, performance improvement, and quality metrics. The incumbent will identify opportunities to improve services through the use of technology and equipment and is actively involved in departmental strategic planning, implementing cost savings strategies, and enhancing revenue opportunities. Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team and serves as the pharmacy representative and liaison on organizational committees. Actively participates in employee mentorship and participates in the ongoing education of pharmacy residents and interns. Acts as the designated Pharmacist in Charge for the area(s) of oversight. Reports to the Executive Director of Pharmacy.What It Takes to be SuccessfulRequired Qualifications : Minimum 5 years managerial experienceFinancial management and analysis skills consistent with budgetary responsibilitiesDemonstrated experience in project coordination and implementation of programsAbility to use computerized systems, applications, such as Microsoft Office, medication and safety technologies, and automated dispensing equipmentAbility to read and correctly interpret complex regulations, contracts, and policiesAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health SystemAbility to apply sound judgment in ambiguous situations and effectively manage changePreferred Qualifications : Registered Pharmacist in CA in good standing (Required) (If not licensed in CA, must attain CA Registered Pharmacist licensure within 12 months of hire.)Prior successful management experience, preferably at a large, multi-hospital organization or academic medical centerPost-graduate residency trainingKnowledge and use of EPIC electronic health recordExperience in a union environmentAn advanced administrative degree (M.S., M.H.A., M.P.H., M.B.A.)Conditions of Employment : The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks to provide a safe and healthy environment for the entire UCI community.
