The Academic Personnel and Human Resources unit in the School of Biological Sciences is a fully centralized, collaborative team of six that works closely together. This is a key staff position in this unit that will include complex administrative analysis in all aspects of employment, retention, separation of non-senate academic personnel and staff HR, and payroll.
As a seasoned experienced professional with a comprehensive understanding of UC, campus, and school academic practices, policies, and procedures, resolves moderate to complex academic HR-related issues affecting a broad range of academic titles in imaginative and practical ways. Incumbent reviews all non-senate academic and staff personnel matters related to the School of Biological Sciences Dean’s Office and serves as a supervisor to an HR Generalist 2. Reviews and approves complex UCPath entries. Processes payroll and serves as a lead in the school for complex transactions. Serves as resource on all personnel matters to the chair, department administrator, and faculty.
Your Role on the Team
- Requires thorough knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR. Required
- Thorough knowledge of UCI goals, priorities and values and the legal and human implications of decisions. Preferred
- Thorough knowledge of systemwide and organization policies, union contracts, procedures and practices that govern academic HR administration. Required
- Knowledge of trends in academia, especially in areas of academic planning, human resource management and administration. Preferred
- Ability to analyze complex management issues, develop project scope and solutions, give professional advice to senior officials and make critical decisions regarding personnel. Required
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. Required
- Excellent critical and innovative thinking to address moderately complex issues and present nuanced analyses. Required
- Experience in supervising staff Required

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $77,000- $139,200 (Annual).
