The Department of Psychiatry & Human Behavior at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine is dedicated to the provision of first-rate patient care, outstanding medical education, comprehensive training and innovative research. Our graduates are trained to approach patient care with a full understanding of the biological, psychological, social and cultural factors that influence mental illness and treatment.
Your Role on the Team
Incumbent serves as first point of contact for patients in the clinic. Enters patient data to the registration system and verifies insurance and / or third-party coverage. Handles inbound and outbound calls to patients to effectively schedule, confirm, modify, or cancel appointments as a result of operational changes or patient request. Performs general clerical and reception duties.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required :
- Demonstrated experience using multi-line telephone system
- Minimum 6 months experience working in a customer service position plus 6 months in a call center setting / clinical setting with high call volume; OR 12 months experience working in a call center
- Demonstrated experience using a computer, including data entry and retrieval
- Ability to effectively read, write and speak English
- Ability to make simple calculations and perform simple math
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the HealthSystem
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Demonstrated experience using office equipment such as a printer, copier, fax, scanner
