Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The Biller IV Medi-Cal Rep is the advanced level in this series and capable of working with the most complex accounts and transactions within Patient Financial Services. Serves as a resource to other staff dealing with difficult accounts and needing help with troubleshooting. The Biller IV Medi-Cal Rep will respond to questions from payers and others regarding the status of accounts. Will need to have experience with government programs collections and billing such as; MSI, Medi-Cal, CalOptima, and other Managed Medi-Cal payers. Will run reports and be knowledgeable with computer programs. Required Qualifications:

  • Skilled at using computerized systems and applications to maintain/update patient accounting information
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Good math skills to perform a variety of calculations related to patient accounting
  • Experience with Billing for Government programs specifically for MSI, Medi-Cal, CalOptima, and other Managed Medi-Cal programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with PFS staff, leaders of the organization, payers, patients and their families and the external community
  • Effective data and numerical data entry skills
  • Demonstrated experience in CPT, HCPC and ICD billing codes, authorization requirements and related documentation
  • Advanced knowledge of a variety of non-governmental and governmental payers
  • Advanced knowledge of UB04 facility Billing
  • Ability to resolve routine and non-routine errors independently and to assist others in problem solving
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to facilitate cash collection on patient accounts
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
