The Biller IV Customer Service Rep is the advanced level in this series and capable of working with the most complex accounts and transactions within Single Billing Office, which includes physician and hospital receivables. Serves as a resource to other staff dealing with difficult accounts and needing help with troubleshooting. The Customer Service Rep will respond to questions from patients, physicians, payers and others regarding the status of accounts. Acts as a liaison between the Single Billing Office, hospital departments, physician offices and vendors. - Works on Outbound Dialer and answers incoming phone calls from patients and vendors regarding self-pay, unfunded / underfunded and balance after accounts for physicians and hospital receivables and assists with account questions, payments, and research and works accounts to zero balance resolution. 25%
- Effectively reviews and processes credit card payments collected via phone, and transfers between payer buckets in accordance with appropriate contract or program guidelines and requests adjustments as needed. 20%
- Effectively interprets and applies financial policies and guidelines for both professional and facility, related to assigned self-pay and unfunded, and underfunded patients function, including Charity Screening, payment arrangement, uninsured / underinsured discounts, recommended bad debt placements. 20%
- Appropriately handles patient disputes, including charge research, payment research and service research. Provides explanation to patients / departments once research is completed. 10%
- Accurately documents all conversations and actions into the HIS system. Takes appropriate follow up actions and sets follow up timeframes. 25%
