The Center for Embedded & Cyber-Physical Systems (CECS) is a premier interdisciplinary Organizational Research Unit within the Office of Research, focusing on research and educational aspects related to embedded & cyber-physical systems. The Professional Master of Embedded & Cyber-Physical Systems (MECPS) is a full-time professional master’s degree program lasting four quarters plus summer. Embedded computer systems are now entrenched into almost every aspect of our daily life, rivaling in ubiquity anything that exists today. UC Irvine is the first university in the U.S. to offer a professional graduate degree in cyber-physical systems. The MECPS program is designed to train students in the foundation, skills and hands-on practices of embedded and cyber-physical systems design, optimization and evaluation.
Under the general direction of MECPS Faculty Director, the incumbent is responsible for the full range of the administrative operations of the program including but not limited to student affairs functions, admission/recruitment, budgetary financial analysis, fellowship allocation, payroll and accounting transactions, program development, internship/career counseling. Applying advanced, specialized student services expertise, advises department / college / school or Graduate Division management, faculty, and students on the most complex student issues; and / or has programmatic responsibility for a complex student affairs function that usually has a discrete budget or budgets, has impact beyond the unit, and involves establishing strategic goals. Is expected to identify systemic problems and issues, and propose solutions to management.

Required:
Minimum of six years of related work experience in a higher education environment.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Knowledge of University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences. Advanced verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills, abilities to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with staff, faculty and campus partners. Multicultural competencies: ability to work with diverse populations. Advanced knowledge of complex visa/immigration, Graduate Division policies, procedures and regulatory requirements for international students. Ability in problem identification and reasoning; ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, persuasion, leadership. Advanced knowledge of accounting policies & procedures, fellowship analysis & allocation, budgetary financial analysis and reporting techniques.
Preferred:
Skills in monitoring / assessing people, processes or services, to make improvements. In-depth knowledge of the field's post-degree employment opportunities and practices. Skills in project management, social perceptiveness to be aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do. Thorough knowledge of Academic Personnel/HR policies & procedures.
