Your Role on the Team
The Urology Nurse Practitioner is a Per Diem position functioning under standardized Nurse Practitioner (NP) protocols that support various urology and urologic oncology clinical activities. These various clinical activities include the clinical trials and other research studies; the performance of physical and urological examinations on selected patients; the performance of study procedures and follow-up evaluations on selected patients which is not limited to but may include drug administration, phlebotomy and insertion of catheters. The incumbent will participate in all aspects of clinical trials while working with urology / urologic oncology faculty PIs and potential sponsors, including submission / renewal of protocols and providing required documentation to the Institutional Review Board and study sponsors. The NP will also perform clinical duties independently and with attending physicians in the urology clinic to support the urologic oncology practice. Provides community and educational outreach as appropriate. In addition, the NP must travel to UC Irvine affiliate sites where the incumbent will have the above responsibilities. The NP will report directly to the Director of Urologic Oncology / Clinical Research and Urology Chief Administrative Officer.

- Demonstrated ability to provide support and resources to patients and families in crisis.
- Appropriate use and knowledge of patient-related equipment, treatments and pharmacologic agents.
- Demonstrated competency in telephone interview skills.
- Demonstrated competency in assessment of patients and families in the home environment.
- Demonstrated competency in the performance of detailed urological examinations.
- Demonstrated competency in the performance of general physical examinations and medical history acquisition.
- Current licensure to practice as a registered nurse in the State of California.
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of California.
- Certified by an appropriate credentialing organization as a Nurse Practitioner.
- DEA certification to dispense medication.
- Experience working with clinical research studies.
