As part of the Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences, the UCI Program in Public Health is dedicated to the achievement of health equity for all populations through research, teaching, service, and public health practice, locally and globally. Championing the principles of evidence-based public health science, the Program's community aspires to understand and impact population-level social, biological, and environmental determinants of health and well-being.
Your Role on the Team
Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of analytical practices, policies and procedures; researches, analyzes and develops solutions to a wide range of issues. Coordinates the research programs of the environmental justice research lab and leads bi-directional community engagement and the communication of science and policy related to air pollution, goods movement, industrial contamination and other environmental health hazards. Grounded in best practices of community engagement, community-based participatory research and research translation in public and environmental health and will have significant previous experience in the approaches we propose (e.g., community engagement, research translation for professional and lay audiences, community-driven monitoring and / or community-based participatory research), experience in environmental health, public health, or health sciences, and an interest in ensuring that the influences of research in these areas extend to public health protections. This position will support the implementation of grant objectives, managing interns and budgets.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required :
- Working knowledge of MS Office, online database systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Public speaking / presentations
- Knowledge of community-based research project best practices
- Basic knowledge / understanding of NIH award life cycle and grantee responsibilities.
- Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
- Fluent in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing)
- Strong leaderships skills, ability to delegate and work independently
- Project Management
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in project management / research
